Beneficiary Information
Proceeds raised at GRUB will be donated to Eco-Cycle to fund the development of a program helping events similar to GRUB become Zero Waste events. Eco-Cycle will also be working with GRUB organizers, making GRUB likely the first Zero Waste Ultimate tournament in the nation!
Eco-Cycle was founded in 1976 as a community-based, grassroots recycling organization. Since the mid-1990s, Eco-Cycle has broadened its efforts to pioneer the next revolution in resource conservation: Zero Waste. Zero Waste is a global movement that addresses resource use from product design to disposal, where there is no such thing as “waste” and materials are kept in the production cycle—through reuse, recycling and composting—rather than tossed into a landfill. Eco-Cycle is partnering with industry, businesses, municipalities, schools, community event organizers and individuals to create a Zero Waste community and to provide a Zero Waste model for the rest of the world. Learn more about Eco-Cycle and Zero Waste at www.ecocycle.org.
Visit the Eco-Cycle site at http://www.ecocycle.org/.
Please make your checks out to Rocky Mountain Ultimate. RMU is the 501c3 non-profit entity that does business as Grass Roots Ultimate. If a written acknowledgment of your donation is required for tax purposes, you must make your check out to Rocky Mountain Ultimate. If you have questions about the tax benefits of your tournament donation, please contact a tax professional. Please send requests for receipts to giving@rockymountainultimate.org.

FIELD USE
We are again playing on the City of Boulder’s beautiful
Pleasant View Soccer Complex fields. Remember as in most urban centers, quality recreational spaces are sparse and competitive adult ultimate does not get highest priority when it comes to obtaining these fields. So be mindful of the surrounding neighbors, obey the park regulations, and use your common sense so that you do not jeopardize GRUB and other ultimate events in years to come.
No glass bottles permitted on the fields.
Dogs are not permitted at GRU tournament events. Really no dogs, not in your car, not on the fields, and not in the parking lot.
Please do not practice on the Pleasant View site until the day of
the tournament. If your team is coming in from out of town, there are nice fields at Foothills Community Park (aka Violet Fields). Here is a link to a map: Practice Fields
Violation of these rules or behavior deemed unacceptable will be grounds for expulsion from the tournament and the facility. The Grass Roots Ultimate Board of Directors (and its designees, including the Tournament Director) and the City of Boulder Recreation Staff reserve the right to enforce this policy.
ZERO WASTE
GRUB will be Colorado’s first Zero Waste Ultimate tournament (and perhaps the first in the US). This means that event planners have designed waste out of the event in every way possible. You are a huge factor in the success of this Zero Waste tournament. Please:
· Bring a reusable bottle to refill with the fresh local spring water that will be provided
· Bring snacks in reusable containers (like Tupperware or plastic bags you can reuse)
· Clif Bars will be provided at the tournament. If you want to bring more energy bars of your own, please bring Nature Valley, Power Bar or Clif Bars. We are partnering with TerraCycle, a program that can accept those specific wrappers to be made into eco-chic accessories. We will not be able to accept other mylar wrappers in this program, so please avoid bringing them.
· We will be sourcing our food as local and organic as possible. We encourage you to do the same.
· Ride your bike or carpool to the tournament.
Zero Waste stations will be provided throughout the tournament. These stations include a recycling (for all traditional recyclables including plastic bottles, aluminum cans and foil) and a compost bin (for all food waste, including meat and dairy, and all non-plastic-lined paper products). All utensils distributed at the event will be made from compostable plant starches and all paper products will be compostable too. As long as you bring recyclable or compostable materials with you as well, we’ll have a successful tournament with virtually nothing thrown in the landfill!
