Format
Summer League will have THREE divisions of play: A, B and our new Development league. All three divisions are co-ed, with a target ratio of 4 men/3 women. If insufficient numbers of women register for A league, the ratio of women could be reduced to “offense-calls” or 5:2.

Registration
Staggered registration:

  • Aug 4: Women for all divisions
  • Aug 4: Men for Dev
  • Aug 4: Men referred by new-to-GRU woman (see Advanced Registration below)
  • Aug 13: Men and women for all divisions (at noon)
  • Aug 15: Close registration, start accepting off waitlist

To register: https://registration.gru.org.

The number of spots available to men during the open registration period will be determined based on the number of women who registered prior to August 13th. To make this process go as smoothly as it can, we really need women to register as early as possible.

There is high demand for the men’s registration spots, and they fill quickly. If you are not available to register on August 13th, you should find a proxy (i.e. friend) to register for you. We cannot register you in advance or hold your spot.

If you decide not to register for league, or if you are currently waitlisted, consider signing up for our new gru-subs yahoo group. For more information go here.

About Our League
Grass Roots Ultimate Summer League is for adult mixed teams that are selected by volunteer captains based on a draft system. We provide the means for family members or close friends or carpool buddies to play together on the same team (via player requests, aka “baggage”).

We offer three levels of play: A, B, and our new Development (aka Dev) league. Please see our Frequently Asked Questions) for more information about which level is right for you.

Concurrent with the registration process, a captain’s pool is formed from the the players who volunteer to captain. After registration is completed, the captains will be selected from the captain’s pool to then meet to draft the teams for the season. After the draft (which is on August 26th), each captain will notify his/her selected players to notify them about the schedule and any other pertinent information. If you have not heard from your captain by the Friday before league begins (that is, by September 5th), please contact us.

We will also make every attempt to keep the website updated with
the rosters and schedules as soon as they are known.

Advanced Registration
We’ve tweaked our Advanced Registration policy again. We are discontinuing the general “baggage-gets-you-in” policy. For this season, our goal is to bring in new players—women in particular. Therefore, if a woman registers for Fall who has never played in our leagues before, she can refer you for advanced registration. Note: You do not need to baggage together to benefit from the Advanced Registration. For example, she may choose the Dev or B league, while you are free to play in the A league.

Once she registers, either she or you need to contact us to request your advanced registration. For this referral the following information needs to be provided:

  • Woman’s name
  • Man’s name
  • Man’s email that is used for registration
  • Which league the Man wants to register for

After we get this information, the man will be added to the waitlist and then released to register. An email will be sent to the man requesting that he complete his registration and payment. If the man waits too long (i.e. 2+ days), the release will expire. During this registration period, we ask you to check your email at least once a day, so that we can move this process along as smoothly as possible.

Advanced Registration spots cannot be guaranteed after registration opens up to all men on August 13th.

Weather Cancellations
While the weather in Colorado is usually pleasant, some variable weather can interrupt or cancel play on any given evening of play. Lightning is of specific concern during summer evenings. We will make every attempt to assess your safety and the playability of the fields each week. If games must be canceled in advance, we will make an announcement on the website, on our hotline (303-661-0664), to gru-chat, and to the captains. Please forgive us if we decide to cancel games on a day that later seems to be playable, we aim to keep the safety of all participants and the maintenance and playability of our fields as priorities in this process. Please also cooperate and clear the fields to a safe location if an interruption or cancellation is called due to lightning.

Lost and Found
If you either lose or find something at the games, you may contact our Lost and Found Coordinator at lost.found@gru.org.

Parents
We are trying to organize parents in our community in the hopes of creating/supporting child care options during games. If you’re interested in this initiative, send an email to parents@gru.org. More importantly, we need someone who can get this effort off the ground, so if you are interested in organizing, let us know that too.

Volunteers
This league and our organization is wholly run by volunteers. If you have an interest in helping us help you, please let us know. We can use help with both game-day operations as well as other support and outreach activities.

Maps and Field Layouts

Here’s a map of our common field locations. More specific maps and layouts will be provided later. For now, zoom in on the green placemark in Broomfield to find the Broomfield Commons.

Now that you’ve read all this good stuff, register now.
